OBjective.

Use photography to explore and communicate a chosen theme through imagery, lighting, and sequence for a printed photo book.

Approach.

The bare construction of a human frame. How do our natural instruments define human recognition? Instruments for Alien Women interprets the female form as a foreign apparatus: slotted joints, incongruous spines, and slithering veins.

This is anatomy confided through a feminine perspective; echoing the artistic lenses of Egon Schiele, David Cronenberg, and Robert Mapplethorpe.

The first facT of human existence is the human body.

Photography.

Consistent black and white imagery against a dark backdrop allows for an analytical view of the female body’s natural instruments. By alternating atypical perspectives of wide and detail shots, the body becomes alien to the viewer, despite all parts being present.
